01Marine & Decorative Plywood

Marine plywood is plywood made with water-resistant glue and high-quality veneers so that the plies do not separate in humid and wet environments. It is used in boat and yacht building, caravan interiors, kitchen and bathroom furniture and other humid applications.

Birch marine plywood offers high strength and a smooth face for furniture and interiors; okoume marine plywood is valued for its light weight in boat building; tropical marine plywood combines an attractive surface with moisture resistance. Thin Eyong plywood is ideal for furniture backs and lining.

We produce in thicknesses from 3 mm to 50 mm (up to 100 mm on request) and sizes of 2500 × 1250, 2440 × 1220, 1525 × 1525, 3000 × 1500 and 3000 × 1250 mm, and accept orders in custom thickness, ply count and species.

01What is marine plywood?

Marine plywood is made with water-resistant (WBP or phenolic) glue and high-quality veneers, so that the plies do not separate in humid or wet conditions. It is used in boat building, caravans, kitchen and bathroom furniture and outdoor applications.

02What is the difference between marine plywood and regular plywood?

The main difference is glue and veneer quality. Interior plywood may use glue with limited moisture resistance; marine plywood uses weather and boil proof glue and higher-quality veneers, so it lasts much longer in humid environments.

03Birch, okoume or tropical marine plywood — which should I choose?

Choose birch for strength and a smooth face, okoume where low weight matters (e.g. boat hulls), and tropical marine plywood for an attractive surface and moisture resistance. Tell us your application and we will recommend the right product.

04What plywood thickness is used for furniture?

Typically 3–6 mm for furniture backs, 9–12 mm for shelves and drawers and 15–18 mm for carcasses and worktop bases. See our plywood thickness guide for a detailed table.

05Can you produce custom thickness and ply count?

Yes. We can produce any thickness between 3 and 50 mm (ultra-thick up to 100 mm on request), in the ply count and species you need. Send us the size, thickness, species and quantity for a quote.

06Do you offer sanded or putty-filled faces?

Yes. Unfilmed marine and decorative plywood can be sanded to 60, 120 or 220 grit on request. In BB grade we repair faces with butterfly patches, and we can supply a putty-filled face if required.
